- Degrees: Certificate in Counselling Skills (COSCA)
Laura is a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). She has a certificate in counselling skills which builds the foundations of her CBT practice. She has experience in working with a range of mental health issues and is now offering CBT at the Glasgow Mindfulness Centre.
Laura was introduced to mindfulness when she completed the 8 week Mindfulness - Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course and has been developing her practice by assisting Bhante Rewatha Thero in delivering MBSR course and by using her mindfulness skills with one to one CBT clients. Laura has been developing her personal mindfulness practice for 3 years now by practising daily.
Laura and Bhante are now running the Mindfulness – Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) courses at the Glasgow Mindfulness Centre. The 8 week MBCT course integrates Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This was developed to help people suffering from depression and again has a strong scientific evidence base and is recognised by NICE in the treatment of depression. Please see course section for further details.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a talking therapy. CBT can help you look at how you think about a situation and how that influences the way you behave. Therapist and client work together to help alter unhelpful thinking patterns that influence unwanted behaviours.
