- Degrees: Psychologist Researcher
I am a psychologist researcher with a particular interest in health – specifically the impact biological, social, psychological and behavioural factors have on health, illness and healthcare. My research focuses on finding ways to improve patients’ experience of long-term conditions.
I first attended an MBSR course at the Glasgow Mindfulness Centre because I had read research papers about the benefits of mindfulness training on various health and mental health symptoms, and I wanted to learn more about mindfulness. I hadn’t anticipated that the course would change my own behaviour, and that I would really come to appreciate the many benefits of daily mindfulness practice. As my understanding and interest in mindfulness has developed, I have attended an Advanced Mindfulness course with Bhante at the Glasgow Mindfulness Centre, and then more recently mindfulness teacher training with Bangor University. I am privileged to be able to develop my mindfulness practice and teaching skills by assisting Bhante with MBSR classes in the centre.
I work part-time as a senior research fellow at University of Stirling, and run my own health research consultancy business.
